The first time I can remember having these Monster Cookies was the year I turned 13. My mom found the recipe (somewhere) and was making a batch to serve for dessert at a luncheon she was in charge of for a large group of young men. They were a hit, and my family has been making them ever since! My favorite time to make these cookies is around Halloween. Just the name alone is perfect for a "spooky" Halloween treat. I love using the Halloween/Fall colored M&M's (fall colored is picture above).
HALLOWEEN MONSTER COOKIES
1 cup butter, softened
2-2/3 cups brown sugar
2 cups granulated sugar
6 eggs
1/2 tablespoon corn syrup
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups peanut butter
9 cups rolled oats
4 teaspoons baking soda
6 oz chocolate chips
1/2 lb bag of M&M candies
Cream the butter, sugars, eggs, syrup, vanilla, and peanut butter together until well combined. Add in the baking soda and the oats. Mix well, and then mix in the chocolate chips and M&M's until well incorporated. Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly with the palm of your hand. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until slightly browned and set.*
