Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

 

1/4 cup shortening

1/4 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

1 tablespoon water

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1-1/2 cups oats

1-1/4 cups chocolate chips

 

Cream shortening, butter, and sugars together until fluffy.  Add egg, water, and vanilla.  Mix well.  Add flour, soda, salt, and oats mix until just incorporated.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Drop from rounded tablespoon onto lightly greased baking sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.

 

Step by Step:

 In a large bowl place 1/4 cup shortening and 1/4 cup butter

 add 1/2 cup sugar

 and 1/2 cup brown sugar.  Cream together until fluffy

 Now add 1 egg

 1 tablespoon of water

 and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.  Mix well.

 To the creamed mixture add 1 cup of flour

 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

 1/2 teaspoon of salt

 and 1-1/2 cups of oats.  Mix until just incorporated.

 Stir in 1-1/4 cups chocolate chips.

 Drop from rounded tablespoons onto a lightly greased baking sheet.  Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
