A good Chocolate Chip Cookie is my addiction. I can remember baking chocolate chip cookies for the first time by myself when I was in First Grade. In fact growing up, my sister and I use to bake a batch of cookies every Sunday after church. We called it "Cookie Sunday". Over the years I've tried 100's of chocolate chip cookie recipes searching for the best one, and this is it-crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside-Perfection!
WORLD'S BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
3/4 cup butter flavored shortening
1-1/4 cups brown sugar, packed
1 egg
2 tbs milk
1 tbs vanilla extract
1-3/4 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips (1/2 a bag)
Cream shortening, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla extract together. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tbs onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until just slightly brown around the edges.
Lately I've been using all whole wheat flour in this recipe (just trying to get in a much whole grains as possible for that New Year's Resolution diet :) If someone would just come up with an all cookie diet, I'd be set!) and the cookies are still the same texture and color. Don't believe me? See for yourself, the cookies in the picture above were made with 100% whole wheat flour. Also, if you want professional looking cookies, just roll them into a ball before cooking. They'll come out perfectly round every time.
